First runners-up on the icy day - amplid guys on site were super-nice and knowledgeable. skis keep to the track and do not let you down on ice or anything else - good stuff for big cruising, crud but a little too heavy (mainly due to testbindings) for touring/longer hikes up. Do not try short turns - it will cost ya.

On Nov. 11th/12th we went to the Ötztal Glaciers - Rettenbachfernern and Tiefenbachferner - to check out the latest hardware: K2, SALOMON, VÖLKL - the big ones who are or want to be in freeskiing. We also hoped to find some of the less-known brands such as MOVEMENT or AMPLID.

Re Movement: we had called them in advance to make sure they would be on site with skis for us to test, ride and enjoy…well, guess who did not show up. Fortunately the guys from the Swiss test center had almost the entire movement portfolio for the season and we persuaded them to let us ride even though we were neither Swiss nor with one of the VIP-groups - thanks again, guys.
Conditions
Excellent conditions to test:
First day we enjoyed sun with very little snow to cover the glacier hence we had a chance to ride ice and hard snow and second day the area was hit by a snowstorm so lots of fresh powder to play with.
